Nashville's initial BRT plan went to Indianapolis
"Leaders had proposed a dedicated lane down West End, known as “the Amp.”
The Amp proposal was thwarted amid major opposition. When the plan died, the federal funding that Nashville had received for it was redirected to a different city.
“You can ride the Amp, but you have to go to Indianapolis to do it,” Bland said."

Nashville DOT launches tactical urbanism program
"NDOT has launched a new tactical urbanism program that supports and facilitates community-led installation of temporary transportation projects in neighborhoods.
Also known as “planning by-doing” or “pop-up urbanism,” NDOT notes tactical urbanism has been present in Nashville, Tenn., during the past decade."
Nashville: C-. Bike share is excellent, lots of ebikes to choose from. Riverfront paths are excellent - seems like most cities are doing that these days. Downtown has a few bike lanes, protected and unprotected, but is pretty awful in general due to many wide car lanes. There were "Bike Route" signs on some really fast roads near the stadium which were positively scary, but there was a lot of construction near there, maybe some changes are in the works.
Thought it might be fun to take in a Nashville FC game while I was in town...turns out that's the day Miami and Lionel Messi come to town. $500 for two upper deck seats. Yeah, no. #Nashville #MastodonFC

A new mayor in Nashville provides hope for biking in the city
"Nashville faced an unexpected distinction in 2023 – it was crowned America’s worst commuting city, surpassing urban hubs like New York and Los Angeles."
New mayor Freddie O’Connell is apparently a trusted advocate for the cycling community. I have a trip to Nashville tentatively planned this summer, so hopefully I can try some biking around town and see what it's like.

A Nashville Vision Zero 15-member task force will convene for the first time on Jan. 30. I was interested in this quote from the article:
"Everyone wants to slow down cars, and the city knows how to do it."
I sure don't think everyone wants to slow down cars in my city!
