Transport emissions, road traffic keep on increasing in Britain
"Incredibly, in the white heat of this climate emergency, transport emissions actually increased in the latest recorded year. Road traffic increased too, with car traffic up 2.5% in 2025. At a time when we have just experienced another extraordinary summer of heat, that should be a wake-up call. Government needs to get serious about changing the way we travel"

Most UK media reports on June heatwave failed to mention climate crisis
"Nearly 2,500 articles about the extreme heat – when temperatures topped 37C, a record for the time of year – appeared in the UK’s nine main national daily media publications. But nearly three-quarters of them – about 72% – left out any mention of global heating or the climate, according to the analysis by the Energy and Climate Intelligence Unit (ECIU)."

Bayeux Tapestry arrives in Britain under overnight police escort
"It arrived in the UK yesterday, and, escorted by the Kent and Metropolitan police, it was taken from Folkestone to the British Museum in an overnight operation.
That journey marked the first time the tapestry had been in the UK since it was made, probably by Canterbury embroiderers, and it was soon afterwards sent to Bayeux Cathedral in France. It has remained in France ever since."
Britain’s cars and SUVs are growing bigger
"The latest negative aspect of our century-long obsession with cars and our obeisance to every demand of the all-powerful motoring lobby. It is not only safety that has been adversely affected. By taking up more room in car parks, SUVs are reducing the number of spaces available. In Hove, the capacity of the Norton Road car park has been cut back from 290 to 180 to accommodate larger vehicles."
