Charlotte scrambles to contain Silver Line transit plan blowback
Charlotte is almost as interesting as Memphis when it comes to transit drama.

Charlotte isn't reaching its goal of eliminating traffic deaths. Bad drivers aren't helping.
"Despite the city of Charlotte investing $10.5 million in traffic safety projects since 2018, more people died or were injured in crashes last year."
$2M a year doesn't seem like much for a city the size of Charlotte. The article details the three E's (Education, Enforcement, Engineering) though. I'd guess they need to do more on traffic calming.

North Carolina’s Republican House speaker says he’ll only OK Charlotte’s $13 billion transportation plan if it focuses on widening roads instead of bike lanes.
"Moore stated that Charlotte officials should focus more on “road capacity” if they want the state legislature to endorse the city’s plan"
"It isn’t about the bikes, it’s about being able to get from Point A to Point B without dying. That shouldn’t be such a hard ask."
